EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

President(s)
The President(s) guide the strategic vision and overall direction of the Toronto Metropolitan Association of Planning Students (TMAPS), ensuring the association actively contributes to the academic and professional development of its members. They act as the primary liaison between TMAPS and faculty, other student organizations, advocating for the interests and needs of planning students.
 
VP Administrative Affairs
This role is crucial for TMAPS, focusing on the day-to-day operations and administration of the organization. The VP Administrative Affairs ensures that meetings are efficiently organized, minutes are recorded, and documents are maintained and accessible.
 
VP Ethics Diversity & Inclusion
This role is dedicated to ensuring TMAPS activities and initiatives are inclusive and reflect the diverse voices within our community. The VP Ethics, Diversity & Inclusion will lead efforts to foster an equitable environment and advocate for ethical practices within TMAPS and our broader community.
 
VP Outreach
Dedicated to extending TMAPS’s reach and influence by forging meaningful connections with industry professionals, alumni, and community groups. The VP Outreach seeks opportunities for collaboration, sponsorships, and engagements that can offer valuable experiences and resources to the membership.
 
VP Social Affairs
Tasked with organizing events that bring our members together, the VP Social Affairs will plan and execute a variety of social and professional development events throughout the year. Creativity, event planning experience, and a keen sense of community spirit will serve you well in this position.
 
VP Finance & Treasury

Do you enjoy working with numbers? Are you someone who enjoys organizing budgets and spreadsheets? The VP of Finance & Treasury is responsible for all of the financial management within the TMAPS organization. This position requires creating reports, project management, and working collaboratively with other VPs to ensure that planned events and ideas are ideal from a financial standpoint.

VP Academics

Are you looking to better your education? Do you want to envision different ways to support the School of Urban and Regional Planning from an academic perspective? The VP of Academics is responsible for providing academic workshops and resources for current planning students of all years. This position requires working with stakeholders, event planning, and working collaboratively with other VPs to ensure that TMAPS is supporting students academically at all costs.

VP Communications

Do you love social media? Are you someone who enjoys designing posters, website design, and communicating with others? The VP of Communications is responsible for the maintenance and design of TMAPS social media and networking with people interested in working with us. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, and working collaboratively with other VPs to ensure that TMAPS is communicating efficiently with students, stakeholders, and all of those interested in the team. 

GENERAL COUNCIL

Director of Merchandise

Do you have an eye for design? The Director of Merchandise is responsible for managing the design, production, and sales of organization-related merchandise. Tasks include liaising with vendors, coordinating with other executive members for promotional efforts, and managing stock for the year. This role gives the democratically elected individual the authority to assist in designing our merchandise!

Year Representatives: 1st Year, 2nd Year, 3rd Year, 4th Year, and PLAD/PLAB

Year Representatives play an important role in identifying student needs, representation, and concerns. These roles are held by students in their respective years. They act as liaisons between the students of their year and the TMAPS’ executive committee. They may help plan events, voice concerns or suggestions from their peers, and encourage participation within their respective classes.

Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) Representative

The CIP rep acts as a bridge between the Toronto Metropolitan Association Planners and CIP, facilitating access to resources, networking opportunities, and professional development tools. Ensures student interests are represented within the organization.

Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) Representative

The OPPI rep acts as a bridge between the Toronto Metropolitan Association Planners and OPPI, facilitating access to resources, networking opportunities, and professional development tools. Ensures student interests are represented within the organization.

International Student Representative

The International Student Representative acts as the primary representative of all international students enrolled in the School of Urban and Regional Planning Undergraduate, liaising on their behalf with TMAPS members. This member will work closely with the VP of Ethics, Diversity, and Inclusion to plan for and execute events that promote visibility and cultural representation within SURP.
