Amarjot Dhanjal
CO-PRESIDENT
Hi there, my name’s Amarjot and I’m currently a third-year planning student with interest in working in the transportation or development sectors. I’ve been a part of the TMAPS team since the first year and have always enjoyed being involved with the community. We hope to make this year special especially due to the lasting effects of the pandemic. Make sure to keep up with the events and initiatives we have this year, can’t wait to see you there!

Genevieve Albuerne
CO-PRESIDENT
Genevieve is a fourth-year PLAN student interested in affordable housing, immigration in cities, and planning policy. She has always been passionate about making a positive impact on communities, which is why she joined TMAPS in her first-year at SURP. As this year’s Co-President, she looks forward to an amazing year of events and opportunities for professional development.

Rebecca Jeon
VP ACADEMICS
Rebecca is a third-year PLAN student with a keen interest in urban design, development, and enhancing the human experience within the built environment and public realm. Driven by a passion for shaping physically and socially resilient communities, she looks forward to fostering a supportive environment for her fellow students at the School of Urban and Regional Planning.

Karian Chen
VP ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS
Karian is a second-year PLAB student at the School of Urban and Regional Planning. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Design, she wants to use design to bring people together in the ever-growing global family. Outside of the academic realm, she enjoys tending to her pollinator garden 🐝. Karian looks forward to bringing her organizational skills, creative problem-solving, and a touch of warmth to ensure things run smoothly for everyone!-

Ronald Liu
VP COMMUNICATIONS
Ronald is a third year undergraduate student at the School of Urban and Regional Planning. His interests encompass housing, transportation, and the lived environment and experiences found within the city. Outside of school and work he works towards serving the community through engagement. Fitness, and cooking are another passion for Ronald. Through engagement Ronald seeks to inform and foster a sense of community within the planning program. He will do this as the Vice President of Communications. He looks forward to helping create a better school experience, and a better future for all.

Tomas Castillo
VP ETHICS, DIVERSITY + INCLUSION
Originally from Colombia, Tomas is a third-year Planning student, interested in housing, environmental planning and urban design. As this year’s EDI’s VP, Tomas hopes to continue fostering a sense of community through events and activities, as well as gain applicable experience within the field.

Ali Ahmed
VP FINANCE
Ali Ahmed is a dedicated fourth-year Urban and Regional Planning student with a strong passion for planning and development law. He has gained experience working at the School of Urban and Regional Planning, as well as through his roles at the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, City of Toronto, Axess Law, and Bayview Golf and Country Club. As the VP Finance at TMAPS, Ali is committed to managing the organization’s financial records, maintaining strong financial relations with TMSU, and supporting his team in various tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Bilal Shafiq
VP OUTREACH
Bilal is a fourth-year student in the Urban and Regional Planning program at Toronto Metropolitan University, with a strong focus on housing and real estate management. His passion for urban development is driven by his interest in affordable housing and sustainable city growth, alongside leveraging technology to streamline development processes. Outside the classroom, Bilal enjoys playing basketball, volleyball, and swimming, as well as exploring urban landscapes to gain deeper insights into diverse planning challenges. As an engaged member of the planning community, Bilal is eager to contribute to discussions and foster connections that will help shape the future of urban environments.
Anas Ahmad
VP SOCIAL AFFAIRS

Anas is a fourth-year student in the PLAN program at the School of Urban and Regional Planning, with a strong focus and interest in transportation planning and applying GIS for data-driven insights. His passion for understanding how cities function and evolve extends beyond the classroom. Outside of school, Anas enjoys playing cricket and has a fascination with airplanes. He also loves to travel, using his experiences to gain a deeper appreciation of diverse urban environments. As Vice President of Social Affairs, Anas is excited to host engaging events and activities that will strengthen the planning community at TMU and make this year unforgettable.

Emilio Grassia
4TH YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Emilio is a fourth year PLAN student at the School of Urban and Regional Planning. His passions lie in development, housing and land use planning, especially in the private sector. Outside of school, Emilio enjoys playing volleyball, going to the gym and learning new musical instruments. As 4th Year Representative, Emilio is looking forward to engaging with his fellow planning students and encouraging an active and positive community.

Franziska Forsythe
3RD YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Franziska is currently a third-year undergraduate student at the School of Urban and Regional Planning. Her planning interests include sustainability and urban design. Outside of school, she enjoys travelling, reading and creating art. Franziska looks forward to working with other members of the TMAPS team, to meet new people within the program and to help create an exciting and productive environment within the planning program.

Liam Vu
1ST YEAR REPRESENTATIVE
Liam is an enthusiastic first-year student in TMU’s undergraduate planning program (PLAN)! With a passion for community outreach, sustainability and arts programming, he is dedicated to making cities more equitable, livable, and vibrant. He has worked for numerous organizations including PlazaPOPS, TTCRiders and Toronto Youth Cabinet where he led art workshops, engaged communities and advocated for better policies. Outside of planning, Liam is an exhibiting artist showcasing his art across the GTA and leads his non-profit, the ‘Oh Canada Art Show’. As the first-year representative for TMAPS, he is excited to foster an environment of growth, success and community!

Talha Umar
OPPI REPRESENTATIVE
Talha is currently in his last year of the Undergraduate Program for Urban and Regional Planning at the Toronto Metropolitan University, pursuing specializations in Housing & Development Planning and Environmental & Ecological Planning with a minor in Geographic Analysis. He has served on TMU’s Association of Planning Students for two years in the OPPI student representative role and has been involved in other organizations like ULI and MIPOC. Talha believes students have a unique opportunity to interact with planning professionals in diverse spaces and relay the advantages of participating in events for future personal growth. He also believes in setting a precedent when providing support and opportunities for other students, just as past students and mentors have done for him.

Ethan Birmingham
CIP REPRESENTATIVE
Ethan is a 3rd year undergraduate in the planning department. He is most interested in sustainable planning and urban design, specifically in the critical usage of natural infrastructures and ecological elements in public spaces. He also loves to travel to explore the landscapes and cities of the world. He looks forward to the opportunity to continue to grow within the planning industry, make new connections and help network fellow students with professionals of various backgrounds.

Eisham Ghuman
DIRECTOR OF MERCHANDISE
Eisham is a third-year Urban and Regional Planning student with an interest in housing and urban development. Growing up in both Calgary and Vancouver, she developed an appreciation for how diverse living environments and community spaces impact people’s lives. Her interest is centered around community development and housing, with a particular focus on how these elements contribute to creating inclusive, and sustainable urban environments. Outside of the classroom, Eisham enjoys being creative while also traveling and exploring architecture in new cities. As the Director of Merchandise, Eisham is excited to create designs that showcase the Urban Planning program!
